Duto

Privacy Policy

Last updated 20 August 2026

Duto is a Mac app that stores your notes on your own computer. This policy describes the little data that reaches us, and what happens to it. It is short because there is very little to describe.

Your notes

We never receive your notes. Everything you write, capture, dictate or draw is stored in a database file inside your Mac's Application Support folder. It is not uploaded, backed up to us, or read by us. There is no account, no sync, and no server that holds a copy.

Audio recorded for dictation is transcribed on your Mac by the speech model that macOS provides. The audio is not saved and is not sent anywhere.

What the app sends

The app makes two kinds of network request, and no others.

There is no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind inside the app.

What we keep when you buy

Payments are processed by Stripe, which acts as the seller of record. Stripe collects the details needed to take payment and to charge the correct tax, and handles that data under its own privacy policy. We do not see or store your card details.

We keep, for as long as your licence is valid:

We use this only to issue and support your licence. We do not sell it, share it for advertising, or use it to profile you. We will send you email about your purchase; we will not add you to a marketing list unless you ask to be on one.

This website

This site counts visits using Ninelytics, an analytics product we build and host ourselves. It records the page visited, the referrer and coarse technical details such as browser and country, so that we know whether anyone is reading. It is not shared with anyone, it is not used to build a profile of you, and no advertising network is involved.

The site loads no other third party scripts, and its fonts are served from our own domain. Our host also records standard server logs, including IP addresses, for security and diagnostics.

None of this applies to the app. Analytics live on this website only. Duto itself has no analytics of any kind, and never will.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete the personal data we hold, to object to or restrict its processing, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Since the only data we hold is your email, order reference and activation records, these requests are usually quick to answer. Write toinfo@9thavenue.dev and we will respond within 30 days.

Deleting your activation records will release your licence seats, which means the app on those Macs will ask to be activated again.

Children

Duto is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and, for anyone who has bought a licence, say so by email.

Who we are

Duto is an independent software project based in Texas, United States, and is the data controller for the little data described above. Purchases themselves are sold by Stripe acting as merchant of record, so Stripe is the controller for the payment and tax data it collects, under its own policy.

For anything here, including a request to see or delete what we hold, write to info@9thavenue.dev and you will get a person, usually the same day. If you need a postal address for a formal request, ask and we will give you one.
